G-Shock merupakan sebuah produk jam tangan yang dirancang untuk tahan guncangan dan didesain untuk pemakain sport, militer dan aktivitas outdoor. Fitur standar G-Shock adalah stopwatch, timer, lampu layar dan ketahanan air.
Pada tahun 1983, seorang perancang sekaligus teknisi jam yang bekerja di Casio, bernama Kikuo Ibe, menciptakan sebuah jam tangan yang mempunyai konstruksi anti guncangan. Kikuo Ibe terinspirasi dari sebuah kejadian, dimana ketika dia jatuh dari sepeda, jam yang digunakannya hancur. Ibe lalu berpikir bagaimana caranya agar dia bisa menciptakan sebuah jam yang tahan banting. Dimulailah riset dengan membuat berbagai macam prototype jam tangan yang diuji dengan cara dijatuhkan dari lantai 13 gedung bertingkat. Stelah 200 prototype telah diuji coba, maka lahirlah G-Shock pertama yaitu DW-5000C yang dilengkapi 10 tahun battery dan sanggup menahan impak dari benturan keras.
Kepopuleran G-Shock meningkat pada tahun 1991. Sepanjang tahun 1991 sampai dengan 1998, Casio telah menjual 19 juta G-Shock di seluruh dunia. Saat ini, G-Shock modern sudah dilengkapi berbagai macam fitur seperti tough solar (tenaga cahaya), atomic (sinkronisasi waktu menggunakan frekuensi radio) dan berbagai macam fitur canggih lainnya.
Saat ini, G-Shock mempunyai banyak jenis, salah satunya adalah Frogman, yang merupakan satu-satunya G-Shock yang mempunyai standar ISO diver (standar jam tangan untuk menyelam). Selain itu, telah lahir juga Riseman (jam dengan fitur sensor suhu), Mudman (jam yang tahan lumpur), Gulfman (jam yang tahan korosi dan air asin), Rangeman (jam dengan triple sensor dan compass). Terdapat juga jenis G-Shock yang dirancang untuk para pilot seperti Gravity Defyer series. G-shock juga digunakan dalam berbagai macam film hollywood seperti pada film Speed, selain itu kesatuan militer seperti US Navy Seals dan US Air Force juga menggunakan G-Shock sebagai jam tangan andalan para serdadu.
